Top visitor attractions make the City a desirable destination for international and Australian holidaymakers and business visitors. With 17kms of stunning Indian Ocean beaches and award-winning Hillarys Boat Harbour, the City of Joondalup is the jewel of Perth’s Sunset Coast. With numerous visitor attractions and amenities it’s a must for international and interstate holiday-makers, business visitors, day trippers and Western Australian families.
Joondalup is ideally situated only 25kms north of Perth and benefits from a direct train service from Perth City to Joondalup City Centre including Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City, which is the largest shopping centre in Western Australia. Freeway access and public transport to and from Joondalup are excellent, making it the perfect location to use as a base to explore not only the Northern Suburbs of Perth, but other acclaimed tourist hotspots such as the wineries of the Swan Valley, Rottnest Island, Yanchep National Park and The Pinnacles.

The City’s Economic Development Strategy outlines a Destination City theme, which highlights the importance of the visitor economy and tourism. This takes a broad perspective recognising not only the more ‘traditional tourism activities’ such as accommodation and hospitality, but also retail and arts and recreation services and acknowledges that a wide range of people visit Joondalup for a variety of reasons.
