ECU Work-Integrated Learning Business Placement Program
ECU School of Business and Law Work-Integrated Learning Business Placement Program
Could your organisation benefit from hosting a motivated and enthusiastic Business student for 100 hours free of charge? Do you have any projects or programs of work that require an extra pair of hands?
The ECU School of Business is offering WA organisations the opportunity to host final year students for work placements in their businesses. Public, private and not-for-profit organisations of any size and across all sectors are invited to participate. The placements are free of charge and insurances are covered. Students on the Placement Program are vetted through an application process. Students are available from a range of Business disciplines, including Accounting, Finance, Management, Project Management, International Business, HRM, Sport and Recreation, Events Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management. We also have a small number of Marketing, Planning and Law students available. Students are assigned to work for approximately 100 hours, equating to 1 or 2 days per week over the 13 week semester.
The Placement Program runs twice per year, February to May and July to October. Expressions of interests are gathered all year round but matching students to placements take place between October and December for the February program and May to June for the July program. Students are assigned an ECU academic coordinator who tracks progress, liaises with the workplace supervisor and assesses the students. Assessments include developing a placement plan and skills e-portfolio. Students achieve academic credit for participating in WIL. Students can work on one specific project, some mini-projects or have a more task-focused placement where they get a broad insight into their assigned work area.
Host organisations commit to providing a safe workplace with a supervisor who is suitably qualified to mentor and guide the student during placement.
